Khao Phing Kan is two cliffs leaning against each other, and Ko Tapu is the forty-metre limestone nail standing in the water just off the beach. The 1974 Bond film made it the single most photographed rock in Thailand, and the effect on the anchorage is exactly what you would expect.

It is still worth going. The geology genuinely is remarkable, the water inside the bay is flat, and from a yacht you can do the thing the tour boats cannot: arrive at the right hour instead of the scheduled one.

Landing is on the beach on the north side. Ko Tapu itself may not be approached closely by boat, and the rock is fenced from the beach because the base is eroding.
