Four sea caves cut through the island into interior hongs, and the low ones are entered lying flat in a canoe.

Panak is the caving island. Where Koh Hong has one tunnel, Panak has a series of them, and they range from a comfortable paddle to a passage where you lie on your back in the canoe and push off the roof with your hands while the guide reads the swell.

Inside, the hongs are cathedral-sized, hung with roots and stalactites and loud with cicadas and the occasional troop of macaques. Because the entrances are low, the interiors are quiet even when the bay outside is busy.

This is a stop for the tender and the kayaks, not for the yacht. Most itineraries run it on the same day as Koh Hong and anchor for the night at one or the other.
