Licence not on public record means no public statement was found, not that an operator lacks one. The Thai charter licence belongs to the individual yacht and its management company, so the answer changes hull by hull even inside one fleet. The five questions that get a real answer are on every operator page.

What each column is telling you
What it is
An owner-operator has the hulls. A broker places other people's. A fleet manager runs a branded fleet, often bareboat. A day-charter operator does not do overnights at all. Charter brokers give you the whole market and thinner knowledge of any one crew; owner-operators give you the reverse.
Boards from
This is the column that quietly costs you time. Ao Po and Yacht Haven have all-tide access. Boat Lagoon and Royal Phuket sit behind a tidal channel, so a deep-draught yacht leaves around high water and your boarding time is set by the tide table rather than by your flight.
Minimum nights
Superyacht desks start at seven and will not go lower. The mid-market covers two to four nights, which the top of the market will not take and the day fleet cannot do. If you have three nights, that column is your whole shortlist.
Contract
MYBA is the international standard form, and it is worth having because everyone in the market reads the same document. Own terms may be perfectly fair and may also contain a clause nobody has had to test.
TYBA
The Thai Yachting Business Association, founded in 2014. Charter licence applications go to the ministry through member agents. Membership is not a quality mark; it means the operator sits inside the channel the paperwork moves through.
What is not a column
Commission. The order of this table depends on the heading you click and on nothing else. Several operators here pay us nothing and are described in exactly the same detail as the ones who do.
Before the deposit
Five questions with specific right answers
You are not auditing anyone. You are asking five factual questions by email and watching whether they come back as facts. An operator inside the regime answers each in a line. An operator outside it answers with reassurance, and that pattern is the whole signal.
- 01What flag does the yacht fly, and is it Thai or foreign?
- 02If it is foreign-flagged and 24 metres or longer, what is the Superyacht Charter Licence reference and when does it expire?
- 03Who is the Thai fiscal representative for the charter, and are they a TYBA member agent?
- 04Will the charter agreement name the yacht, the owning company and the licence, or only the broker?
- 05Is the 7 percent Thai VAT shown separately on the invoice, and against which company's tax number?
A note on what is not here
There is no star rating, no score and no ranked best-of list on this page, and that is deliberate. A charter is decided by the fit between a specific group, a specific week and a specific yacht, and a single number across eighteen very different businesses would hide exactly the differences that matter.
What is here instead is the set of facts that actually differ: who owns what, where they board from, how short a charter they will take, which contract they write on, and whether their licence position is a matter of public record. Read the columns that apply to you and ignore the rest.
